"Thanks again for working with my foot/ankle.  You saved the day!  I never would have been able to complete the run without your great work!"

Runner's Only Boot Camp

Common Questions
What if I have never walked long distances or raced before?
Perfect! We will teach you everything you need to know to finish your first race. From which shoes to wear to what food is the best fuel and even how to dress in layers. Our exercises and strategic mileage/time progressions are perfect for the beginner and tend to run on the cautious side when necessary.

What if I have never run before?
That’s okay, we will find the best pace for you and teach you strategies for run/walking a race, proper form and how to finish strong. Based on your complimentary evaluation you will learn which race and distance is best for you.

What if I’m not experienced with exercise?
Don’t worry, all of our exercises are thoroughly explained and we start with the most basic non-machine movements and progress from there. By the time you get to the more advanced exercises you will be doing things you never thought you could do!

When/where do we meet for running?
We do not meet for runs as a group, but we do give you weekly guidance on where to run, how long, and what intensity. Our focus is strength training, injury prevention and race strategies to match your goals. A treadmill is also available at the center based on a sign-up sheet.

When/Where do we meet for exercise training?
Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30pm-7:15pm at the Exercise Progression Center in Milpitas. If you cannot make those times or days then other arrangements may be possible depending on your schedule.

When does the next Runner’s Only boot camp start?

How often do we meet?
We meet for our strength training exercise circuits on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Do I have to purchase the entire boot camp?
No. You have the option to 1) buy as you go with a drop in fee of $20 per session or 2) purchase the entire camp (varies depending on which race you are training for) up front which works out to $17.50 per class.

What if I can’t make all the scheduled days?
There is an option for drop-ins. Instead of buying the whole package you can buy as you go. However, if you are looking for the best results, we urge you to stick with the program of 2x per week of exercise.

What do I need to bring?

  • For the initial evaluation you will need to bring comfortable clothing that allows for exercise-type movements for the assessment.
  • All you need for each boot camp class and Saturday run is your workout clothes and water bottle!

Who is the Runner’s Only boot camps best for?
People at any level belong here because all strength training for runners is based on the foundation of weight-bearing exercises. If you are a rookie, then you can use just your body weight. If you are elite, then we add some resistance or instability to the exercise.

You will discover firsthand how resilient your body can be when trained appropriately. Once you finish your camp and race you will know how to train for a race in all aspects of strength, flexibility, nutrition and progressing your mileage. On top of that your body will be stronger and more efficient than ever before!
